technician holding a clean and dirty air filter comparison in the front seat of a car

When driving around town, your vehicle's engine needs clean air to burn the fuel – and it needs a lot. In fact, a typical vehicle needs about 216,000 gallons of air for every tank of gas. All that air passes through a filter that catches the dust and dirt. Eventually, the filter gets completely full, and because the filter can only hold so much, dirt starts getting through. At Woody's Automotive in Wichita, we want to help you get the best air quality in your vehicle, but first, we want to explain the process of where this dirty air is going.

Unless you are confident in your abilities as an automotive mechanic, there is really only one rule when purchasing a flood-damaged vehicle: don’t do it. Unfortunately, sometimes sellers aren’t particularly straight-forward with their used cars. Many will try to hide the fact that it’s been damaged by floodwaters at all or try to convince potential buyers that the car is in fact fine. “It has gone months with no issues” or “technically it is flood-damaged but” are two red flags, and while it isn’t impossible for a flood car to be fine, it’s altogether a good idea to stay away.

I was quoted a price by another shop for a repair and heard from a few people that I was being overcharged so I decided to call around a few places and Woody's had the best rate. We hadn't driven the van much because we knew it was leaking oil so the morning I dropped it off the check engine light came on. I asked them to diagnose the check engine light prior to fixing the oil leak in case it needed a larger repair we weren't expecting. I got a call later that morning to let me know the real issue behind my oil leak and the repair ended up being cheaper than I expected! They told me the repair I scheduled did need to be corrected but that it was minor. I appreciate the honesty because I feel the other shop wasn't being honest and I would have been out even more money. They of course did an inspection of the van and recommended repairs/maintenance that should come next. I spoke to Ty during drop off and pick up. He went over everything with me and told me what things on the report were more urgent than others. Office was clean and my van was done the same day. We'll definitely be back for needed repairs and maintenance. - Daniella G. (5 Star Yelp Review)
